About Oil & Ember

Oil and Ember began as a way of holding onto places that mattered to me.

I'm a Tasmanian-based artist working primarily in oil pastel, drawn to its immediacy, texture and colour. Much of my work in inspired by Tasmanian landscapes, lived in, walked through and returned to.

Alongside the paintings, I make small-batch candles that begin with the same artwork. The scent is shaped by the image, carrying its mood and atmosphere into another form. Everything is made by hand, in small runs, with attention to detail rather than volume.

Oil and Ember is about connection to place, memory and material, whether that's pigment on paper, oil pastel on Huon Pine, or wax poured slowly by hand.
